The 2026 Waima Topu B Trust Educational Grants are OPEN. 

2026 GRANTS 

The aim of the Waima Topu B Trust educational grants is to assist shareholders and their descendants to fulfil their potential for educational success, and encourage applicants to contribute their skills towards improving the well being of whānau and hapū from Waima.

Waima Topu B Trust educational grants are available to all shareholders and their descendants who are registered with Waima Topu B Trust and formally enrolled in an approved secondary school, university, polytechnic, institute of technology, wānanga or private training establishment  

Waima Topu B Trust educational grants are available for study at:

1. Secondary school
2. Private trade training institute 
3. Polytechnic 
4. Institute of Technology
5. Whare Wānanga
6. University

PROCESS

Applications will be considered by a panel appointed by the Waima Topu B Trust whose decisions will be final and binding. No correspondence will be entered into on these matters.

Applications are vetted to ensure eligibility criteria are met.

All applicants will receive notification of application receipt, and/or if applicable, requests for further information from the Waima Topu B Trust.

SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS

​All successful applicants will be notified and allocated the appropriate disbursement in late April 2026. 

​Available to shareholders and their descendants

Waima Topu B Trust educational grants are awarded to a single successful applicant a maximum of three (3) times.

AMOUNTS AVAILABLE

The following grants are available:

• Secondary school costs & fees (Y11-Y13 only)

              Up to 25 disbursements of $200 each

• Secondary school boarding fees 

              Up to $1000 each

• Trade training 

              Up to $1000 each

• University / Whare Wānanga (Certificate/Diploma/Bachelor/Bachelor with Honours Degree)

              Up to $1500 each

APPLICANT ELIGIBILITY

Applicants must:

• Be a shareholder registered with Waima Topu B Trust or a descendant of a registered shareholder.
• Be studying full time.
• Submit a fully completed application form including all requested information. Applications must be received by 5pm, Sunday 29 March  2026.
• Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
• Provide proof of full-time course enrolment in 2026.
• Provide academic manuscripts of previous year’s grades (if requested).
• Sign the application’s Agreement and Declaration forms.
• Provide a written explanation as to how their course of study will provide outcomes for whānau and hapū of Waima.
• Be available to attend the Trust's AGM (if requested).

NOTE: Students enrolled in FREE courses or are receiving FEES FREE support  are not eligible to apply for a grant.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Educational grants are available to shareholders (and their descendants) of the Waima Topu B trust.

To be eligible for a grant, applicants must be enrolled at a secondary school, trade training or tertiary institution, whichever is relevant to their application. 

Applicants undertaking trade training part-time or at night-school may also be considered. 

Other things to note:

• Unfortunately we cannot accept late applications.
• Educational grants can be used to pay tuition fees, course materials, room and board or travel costs.
